Platform Guidelines

Follk exists to foster connection and trust in local communities by enabling Users to share a variety of content with those in their Area. Some things that others share you’ll love, but other things might make you uncomfortable, confused, annoyed, or angry.
It’s important to us to equip you with tools to block out things that you don’t care to interact with. Largely, we’re disinterested in being the arbiter of what you can and cannot say and post on this platform and would prefer to give that power to you, as much as reasonably possible. This means that you accept some responsibility for protecting yourself and others on the platform.

So here are a few ground rules to keep this things in order.

Rules

Value Safety. Spaces, Perspectives, and Users that incite violence or that promote hate based on identity or vulnerability will be banned.

Value Privacy and Consent. Don’t share personal or confidential information about someone. Don’t share intimate or sexually-explicit media of someone else without their consent.

Value Self-Determination. Empower other users to self-determine by reporting harmful, mature, or sensitive content, as well as low-value content (spam, clickbait, ads, etc.), and by properly labeling your own content you post with any Mature Content it may contain. When filing Reports, be honest and do not file reports against content maliciously or untruthfully. When Users file inaccurate reports, they disrespect the self-determination of other Users to choose to engage with content they want to engage with. Users who repeatedly file Reports found to be untrue will be banned.

Protect Children. Don’t share or encourage the sharing of sexual or suggestive content of minors. Any predatory or inappropriate behavior involving a minor is also strictly prohibited. These are the most extreme and intolerable offenses.

Protect the Platform. Don't intentionally act to damage the integrity of the platform, including filing fraudulent reports, spamming, vote manipulation, ban evasion, and general trolling.
